Description
He was a bull-faced black officer with a dowdy face, his thick body bulging against his uniform. He looked down his nose at Jimmy as he sized up his college ID. “James Spokes?” He spoke like he had a god-given right to sit in his squad car all night and was offended that Jimmy had dared disturb him… His name was Officer Goober, and he was aptly named, as he got kinduva peanut-shaped face, body and ass.
Officer Goober was a middle-aged brother in uniform, with a firm mustache and a powerful but portly frame. He got gleaming dark skin like a fresh and fragrant eggplant, and he got a smoker’s rough edge to his voice.
Until recently, Goober was married. His wife had recently left him for a white man. It was the scandal of the century in town, though Goober never even told anyone about it — they only found out because she updated her Facebook page with pictures of her new man.
This was his first haircut since the divorce. He looked scruffy and tired. Talley wondered if he was taking care of himself. But he didn’t ask, both because he knew Goober would see it as nosy and because he didn’t want to encourage Goober to stay longer and scare away more customers.
